Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments.
We're entering the era of agentic science where AI models can now design novel proteins, propose hypotheses, and iterate on experimental results. But they can't run the experiments themselves - that's still a manual, months-long process. We're building the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world.
We are one of the fastest growing biotech companies, trusted by leading biopharmas, frontier AI labs, and the techbio companies pushing the field forward. This is a rare chance to help advance some of the most important work happening in biotech today.
Our automated lab is powered by a deep software + hardware stack: lab instruments worth millions of USD reverse-engineered into API-controllable hardware, dozens of devices orchestrated through complex workflows, full observability on everything that happens in the lab, processing pipelines for messy physical-world data, and AI systems that troubleshoot production results and accelerate assay development.
We’re growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation.
Adaptyv is expanding from Switzerland to the UK. Following our oversubscribed funding round, we are opening a lab in London in 2026.
This will be more than a second production site. We want the London lab to become a hub for the UK protein engineering ecosystem: giving biotech companies and researchers access to high-throughput protein production and characterisation, running work for partners such as Anthropic and Boltz, and building ambitious new capabilities of our own.
We are looking for the person to build and run it.
As the founding operator for Adaptyv UK, you will own the UK operation end to end. You will establish the company, get the lab open, build the first team, and then run the business day to day. Lausanne gives you a working blueprint — technology, processes, systems, and a team that has already built this once — but London is yours to make work.
This is a general manager role in the literal sense: if something needs to happen for Adaptyv UK to succeed, it is ultimately your responsibility.
Build the London lab. Take the site from lease to an operational lab: fit-out, contractors, equipment, suppliers, permits, timelines, and budget. You will work closely with the Head of Lab Operations you help hire, but you own getting the site open.
Build the founding UK team. Hire across lab operations, automation, and science together with the founders. Put the basic people infrastructure in place and create a team that can operate with the same speed and ownership as Lausanne.
Set up and run Adaptyv UK. Own the UK entity, banking, accounting, payroll, insurance, budgeting, contracts, and the other operational machinery required to run the company properly.
Own the local customer experience. Work with UK customers from onboarding through experiment delivery, coordinating closely with our commercial and scientific teams in Lausanne.
Build the local network. Develop relationships with landlords, contractors, vendors, universities, biotechs, partners, and the broader London life-science ecosystem.
You have built something from zero before. Ideally you have launched a new site, geography, business unit, or physical operation for a fast-growing company. Experience with labs, clinics, manufacturing, hardware, or other infrastructure-heavy businesses is particularly relevant.
You are an exceptional generalist. You can move comfortably between property, finance, legal, hiring, customers, and operations. You do not need to be the expert in every room, but you learn quickly, ask the right questions, and know when specialist input matters.
You get things over the line. You negotiate well, make decisions, follow up, and keep complex projects moving.
You operate with a high degree of ownership. You do not need a predefined process or someone telling you what comes next. You figure out what needs to happen and make it happen.
You have a strong life-sciences background. A degree and/or professional experience in the life sciences is highly preferred. You will be building a lab, hiring scientists, working with biotech customers, and negotiating with lab landlords and instrument vendors, so familiarity with the industry matters.
You use AI as part of how you work. We use tools like Claude Code and our own software throughout Adaptyv, including in operations. We expect you to be comfortable using AI to move faster and do better work.
You are in London. This is a hands-on, on-site role. You are already based there or ready to move.
Location: London, UK — on-site
Type: Full-time
Start: As soon as possible
Target lab opening: 2026
Application deadline
We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis.

This is a hybrid sales and customer success role for someone with real scientific depth. You'll be the primary point of contact for customers — from first conversation through ongoing engagement. That means understanding what a protein design team is actually trying to achieve, helping them pick the right assays, making sure their experiments are set up correctly, and translating results back into language that's useful for their programs.
The day-to-day:
Running technical sales calls where you discuss binding kinetics, expression systems, and assay design, not just pricing
Onboarding new customers and helping them design their first experiments on the platform
Monitoring ongoing accounts, flagging issues early, and proactively suggesting next steps based on their results
Working with the biology team to troubleshoot when a customer's experiment doesn't go as expected
Identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts — new targets, new assay types, larger campaigns
You won't be handed a script. You'll need to understand the science well enough to earn trust from PhD-level protein engineers and CSOs, while also being commercially sharp enough to close deals and grow accounts.
Responsibilities
Own the full customer lifecycle: prospecting, technical sales conversations, deal closing, onboarding, and ongoing account management.
Serve as the technical point of contact for customers. Understand their protein engineering goals and recommend the right experiments (binding, expression, thermostability, enzyme activity).
Understand and explain our assay capabilities in depth: BLI, SPR, cell-free expression, and emerging assay types. Know when each is appropriate and what the data means.
Work closely with the biology team to ensure experiments are designed correctly and results are communicated clearly.
Build and maintain a pipeline of commercial opportunities across customer segments: AI-driven protein design companies, biotech startups, pharma R&D teams, and academic labs.
Develop proposals and quotes tailored to customer needs, from small pilot experiments to large-scale data generation campaigns.
Represent Adaptyv at conferences and industry events. Be able to have deep technical conversations at the booth, not just hand out brochures.
Feed customer insights back to the product and biology teams: what assays are people asking for, what's missing, where are we losing deals.
What we're looking for
Scientific background in protein engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field. You should be comfortable discussing binding kinetics (KD, kon, koff), expression systems, and assay design without needing to look things up.
Experience in a customer-facing technical role: field application scientist, technical sales, scientific account management, or similar. CRO or biotech vendor experience is a strong plus.
Commercially driven. You care about revenue, pipeline, and closing deals, not just having interesting scientific conversations.
Strong communicator who can adapt to the audience: detailed and technical with a scientist, concise and business-focused with a VP.
Self-starter who can manage their own pipeline and priorities without heavy oversight.
Genuine interest in AI-driven protein design and the companies working in this space. You follow what's happening in the field.

We’re looking for a passionate Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team at STRATOS – someone eager to sit at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and real-world impact.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with industry leaders to embed our platform deep into their operations – transforming strategic intent into live systems that drive measurable results. In today’s world, where the last mile of implementation creates the competitive moat, you’ll be the catalyst turning software into scale.
About Us
At STRATOS Technologies, we are transforming how companies make data-driven decisions with our innovative Strategy Operating System. Our software integrates complex datasets into a unified solution, enabling businesses to strengthen their long-term strategies through clear and actionable insights.
Our founders, former business and tech executives who led a $1B division at a Fortune 500 industrial company, originally built a digital twin of their enterprise to drive synchronized planning and execution. Seeing the market’s lack of such a system, they launched STRATOS in 2022 with a bold mission: to build the world’s first strategy operating system that unifies all internal and external data into a single platform.
Today, STRATOS is a category-defining, rapidly growing startup funded extensively by high-profile investors (e.g., Accel) and trusted by nearly a dozen global industrial leaders and Fortune 500 customers. Our software integrates complex datasets into a unified solution, combining deep data integration, best-in-class workflows, and cutting-edge generative AI.
From commercial AI agents to embedded intelligence that supercharges lean teams, STRATOS enables businesses to achieve 10x productivity and strengthen long-term strategies through actionable insights. We are now expanding our team to accelerate our growth even further and help our customers outperform their competition.
Why Forward Deployed Engineering
While we have a scalable technology backbone, we believe that Forward Deployed Engineering is the future of differentiated B2B SaaS in the GenAI age. Rather than shipping static tools, we partner closely with customers to deliver dynamic, tailored solutions where value is created in the implementation layer – not just the codebase.

Equity through our stock option programme, so you share in the long-term success and growth of the company
A highly competitive salary
Direct access to Fortune 500 executives from your first months, at a level most people wait a decade for
Work alongside former MBB consultants and Fortune 500 executives who will teach you directly — our team is small enough that this happens in person, not through a training curriculum
Private healthcare
Pension scheme
25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays
Work from abroad — up to four weeks a year, and up to two weeks at a time
Hybrid office policy, with visa sponsorship available
A company committed to social and environmental responsibility — we pledge to be a net-zero CO₂ company and donate 1% of our revenue to social causes
Practicalities
London-based, 3 days a week in our Farringdon office
